Seeing and hearing in an new way

Eartraining is one of the most beneficial things you can do to improve musicianship. With practice the ear eventually recognizes, in a flash, the sound(s) that are being heard.

Think of the way we recognize objects from one another by differences. If I were to show you five balls of the same size that are different colors and asked you to give me a ball, you would most likely reply "Which color ball?". The colors of the ball are what make them different from each other. You learned to visually distingush the differences between colors. The same thing can be achieved musically with eartraining.

Timing is another part of eartraining that is very important Without good timing, a musician will sound "out of sync" with the steady pulse that is naturally felt when we listen to music.

Reading and notating music also has benefits for a musician like being able to play what you read and notate ideas.

Transcribing recorded music is extremely beneficial for any serious musician. This is also part of ear training and one of the most overlooked areas. The benefits are that with practice you will be able to notate whatever you hear in a flash AND you will hear things that you didn't realize were even in the recording.

These are just some of the benefits that eartraining has to offer. Finding one software product that could do all this and more was out of the question until I found EarMaster Interactive Ear Training Software.
